Step 1: Sign Up or Log In to Canva’s Website

Open Canva

Sign in or log in to Canva’s website. Canva’s Free Version is good enough for designing event badges. However, you may upgrade it to Canva Pro for additional features. 

Step 2: Create a New Canvas

Once logged in to your Canva account, open a new canvas for your project. Set the size of the business card to 630×1013 pixels.

Step 3: Consider Using Templates

If you consider using templates, Canva provides several good options. You can use them as references and make additional adjustments. 

Step 4: Add Your Photo Frame

  • Open the “Element” menu on the left side. 
  • Search for any frame shape you like. In this tutorial, we use a circle frame. 
  • Move the frame to the center. You can use “Position” > ”Center.”
  • Then, add a picture of your team member by uploading it to the platform.
  • Next, move the picture to the frame. 

Step 5: Add Relevant Information

Click the “Text “ tool and choose a font from the font library. Add essential information such as the event’s name, attendee’s name, venue, date, and title.

Make sure to choose a legible font and font size that fits your event badge dimension. Don’t forget to arrange the information based on the visual hierarchy.

Step 6: Add Logos and Decoration

  • Pick any wavy shape you like and adjust the color.
  • You may duplicate it and change the color.
  • Adjust the position so it looks like the shape has an outline.
  • Then, duplicate those shapes and drag them to another side. 

Step 7: Incorporate QR Code (Optional)

You can add a QR code if necessary. To do this, tap the “Application” menu and search “QR Code.” Insert your link and then tap “Generate Code.”

Design the backside of the badge

Additionally, you can put the code on the other side of the badge. You just need to duplicate the whole canvas. Then, adjust the QR code, design elements, and information.

Step 8: Review and Download

Download the design

Double-check your badge design for any spelling errors, alignment issues, or inconsistencies in font size and color. 

After that, click on the “Share” button and select “Download.” Choose a high-quality file format such as PNG or PDF.
